The Gateway to Arctic Sweden

Discover the magic of Arctic winter with our curated group experiences in Västerbotten. From late November, the first snow typically begins to fall, covering the landscape in white by November. This snow blanket often remains until early April, creating ideal conditions for winter adventures.

Västerbotten offers some of the best opportunities to experience the Northern Lights, particularly from late September to March, with the highest chances on cold, clear nights between December and February. During this period, the long evenings and minimal light pollution provide a perfect setting for unforgettable aurora displays.

Let us design a winter itinerary that immerses your guests in the spirit of Swedish Lapland—blending natural beauty, cultural depth, and Arctic tranquility. Scroll down for activities or just send us a mail to get in touch.
Dog sledding with huskies in beautiful sunset

Arctic Dog Sled Adventure

A private, well-coordinated dog sled experience designed entirely around the needs of your group. The program begins with a visit to the kennel, where guests meet the friendly huskies, help harness the dogs and learn the basics of driving a sled. Before departure, participants receive all necessary winter equipment, including insulated boots, a one-piece snowsuit and mittens, along with a clear safety and handling briefing.

On the trail, two guests share each sled — one driving, one riding — with the option to switch roles along the way. A team of 5–6 energetic huskies pulls the sled through quiet forest trails and open winter landscapes, guided by an experienced musher. The pace is calm, scenic and suitable for all levels.

The length of the experience is fully customisable. It can be arranged as a short introductory outing or extended into a full-day or multi-day safari for smaller, more experienced groups.
After the tour, guests gather around the fire or in a heated tent for hot drinks and snacks, with time for photos, cuddles and conversations with the dogs. Every tour is private and adapted to group size.

Ideal for: groups up to 12 persons/tour.

Ice fishing under northern lights

Snowshoeing & Ice Fishing Experience

This guided snowshoe walk leads your group through quiet winter forests and open landscapes, offering an accessible and atmospheric introduction to the northern wilderness. The activity can be operated during the day or in the evening, with moonlit routes creating an especially memorable winter setting. For guests who prefer a slower pace, the walk can be replaced with or complemented by a guided forest hike.

The experience includes time outdoors with warm drinks, fried buns and hot lingonberry juice served in a rustic hunting cabin, creating a cosy break in the middle of the excursion. The activity can also feature ice fishing, where guests use traditional techniques on a frozen lake and have the option to cook their own catch over an open fire — a simple but unforgettable highlight.

The program can be expanded with add-ons: Wood-fired hot tubs, sauna and ice bathing in a water-filled open-pit mine, fire-based cooking using the group’s own fish, moonlight walks through the surrounding forest.
All timing, distance and add-ons are fully tailored to the tour operator’s requirements.

Ideal for: Groups up to 15 persons.

contrast therapy

Arctic Contrast Therapy & Cooking Experience

Designed for group travel and premium winter programs, this experience combines two high-value Arctic products: Nordic wellness and traditional outdoor cooking. Guests begin with Arctic contrast therapy, a guided sequence of wood-fired sauna and invigorating ice plunge carried out in calm winter surroundings. The ritual is slow, safe and structured — ideal for groups — and includes moments of starbathing, where guests step outside the sauna into the crisp winter darkness to absorb the silence and the night sky.

The program continues with Nordic fire cooking, where the flames serve as the kitchen for the evening. Under the guidance of outdoor cooking specialists, guests learn how to build and manage different types of fire, from high heat for quick searing to a steady glow for slow roasting. Together, the group prepares simple seasonal dishes inspired by winter traditions, using techniques such as stone grilling, ember roasting or gentle smoking over birch wood.

Warm drinks, light storytelling and the stillness of the northern forest frame the experience, making it a memorable and atmospheric addition to any winter itinerary.

Ideal for: Smaller groups
